"Waiting On God"
Waiting on God is a period that follows after a request about something has been made in prayer.
When we pray we obviously expect an answer instantly irrespective of what we have asked God for. As human beings we always want an answer, it is our nature. Even a child when he or she asks for something from the parents, it is expected that they provide that which the child has asked for and in the event that they cannot give that child a positive feedback they have to give the child some assurances.
We know that God is an ever loving God and he is our father; he is always ready to answer us each time we call to him, this he has promised in his word. (Mathew 7:7-11, John 14:14). He has given us a platform to ask anything in his name and he will do it. That’s a promise which he is always ready toto fulfill because he has exalted his word more that himself.
What happens when I pray and I don’t get an answer instantly?
As human beings we are conditioned to always expect an answer each time we pray and when this does not happen, we get discouraged and often lose our faith.
Remember this faith is what connects us to God, faith is the assurance you have that God exists and he will answer your prayer; so when you lose faith or start doubting God, you lessen his ability to answer your prayers. For example you may be sick and ask for healing from God then few hours later, you are not yet healed, a day passes still same case; you pray again the same prayer, maybe this time around you increase the volume of your voice and still no healing.
Does this mean God has not heard your prayers?
No he has heard them. Each time we pray God hears and answers our prayers; However, your faith also has a role to play in the delivery of your miracle. Healing or breakthrough comes from God but you have to ask from him, he won’t force it on you. Remember he gave us free will and put power in man to rule over the earth (Genesis 1:28). So when you pray in faith, you will definitely receive your answer.
But what about after praying in faith and I still don’t get my answer immediately? Does it mean God did not hear my prayers?
From experience, some miracles need some time for them to come out perfect.
let me share my story:
There was a time when I had a sick child and desperately needed healing from God. After a week of praying, my son’s condition was still the same and kept changing from bad to worse. To cut the story short, the healing came at God’s appointed time not the time that I prayed or when I expected the healing to come.
To answer the question, God answers every prayer that goes out of your mouth and sometimes the manifestation can take some time despite having prayed the right way and in faith. Sometimes, you answer needs the help of other people who might not currently be ready to help you, so in that time when we are waiting for our miracle God goes ahead of us to prepare the miracle in ways we cannot see. He works in ways we cannot see: that’s what makes him God.
You ask for a marriage, then it comes 2 years later, not knowing that no sooner than you prayed than God answered your prayer. However, it took longer because this partner was not saved that time, he or she was not ready spiritually, mentally or even emotionally to accommodate you. So God went ahead of you and began to work on that person in order for him to produce a perfect gift for you.
Remember, every good and perfect gift comes from the lord (James1:17)
God is a mysterious God and his ways and thoughts are higher than us and all we need to do is to Trust him. He is always ready to answer us. We just need to wait on him when it is required of us to do so.
What do I do as I wait on him?
Waiting for something you have been promised is the most difficult thing for anyone to do, it takes faith and patience. These are some few things you can do as you await your miracle.
1. Immediately start thanking him for the answered Prayer: If you like thank Him daily until the miracle comes
2. Soak yourself in the word of God: This helps in building your faith and keeping you from being discouraged. Each time you read his word, you are reminded of his promises and this enables you to have a positive outlook towards your miracle
3. Stay in God: It is time to remain stable in God and continually seek his face. So many people will discourage you and make you feel useless but when you are connected to God he will strengthen you with his presence as well as his word.
Remember you are waiting on God for your miracle and this simply means you are waiting “in God”. Therefore, You must stay faithful to God until your miracle comes. Remain connected to God and continually seek his face, he will walk with you through it all. (Isaiah 40:31)
