ARE YOU TOTALLY READY FOR IT?

Mathew 7:11,  James 4:3
There are so many things we want in life and the real question we must be willing to answer is: Are you totally ready for it? Today, I interrogate the subject’ Readiness ‘especially for what we are seeking in life. We all want so many things in life and it is alright to want something.  But the question is ‘are you ready for that success you want? Are you ready for marriage? Are you ready for that new car, job, relationship, friend, etc.?

Now we must understand that God has given us all things and he is still in the business of blessing you even today. There is nothing that you can ask that he cannot give you. I want to draw your attention to the issue of why we do not get what we want and when we want it sometimes. somethings that we are seeking for from God may seem to take too long to come and one wonders whether this God is still the one who gives what we ask for as he said in Mathew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given to you: seek and you will find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. Yes! he is still the same God and he enjoys blessing his children but also he considers our readiness in receiving these blessings.I will share my story on two subjects: Success and relationship(marriage).

Success:

I am talking about my career development and what I have gone through. So I wanted this high paying job immediately after leaving university, one that enables me to spend more money on myself. So with the medium paying job I had, I continuously searched on the internet like many other people do, for Job opportunities hoping to find one. So I went to different job interviews and didn’t really get the new job.  So my point is, I feel I was not totally ready for the job because of these few reasons: firstly, I was an alcoholic and loved the life of the party, so if I got the job there and then I was probably going to be out partying most times and maybe neglect my career growth. Also, I had some issues with my character, I had a temper and few other negative issues I needed to work on. The reasons can go on but my point is that there were a few things I needed to get rid of or God had to work on my character first before he can allow these things to come. Especially, the kind of success I am aiming for require a lot of character panel beating and the delay is very necessary. Just like you cannot give a 10-year-old son a car before he matures because it will harm him/her.

Relationship (Marriage)

So I was so much stressed about finding the right partner to marry me that I was focused on it and so whatever came my way I accepted, in the process I encountered a lot of bad relationships. So the concern wasn’t about finding the right man, he was already there, God already predestined who I was going to be with and my job here was to be in his presence so he can work on me and help me become totally ready for that person. I had character problems, so most of my exes would attest to the fact that I was a bit too arrogant and bossy in the relationship and this kind of drove them away. So instead of looking for a partner, I was supposed to be working on my character. So even when I asked God for a right partner, it’s not like he did not want to give me right there, it’s because I was asking AMISS (James 4:3): ASKING FOR THE WRONG THINGS.  Remember the bible tells us that we are made in his image and what the father is, so are we, what the father can do, so can we and he also he has given us all things so why ask for what is yours ALREADY?

So my question is: how come we don’t always get what we want in life sometime? And the answer is, We are not ready to receive those things; we are asking for the wrong things, what we must ask for is maturity, growth and strong character, right motives for wanting something, so we can be ready to take care of the many things God gives us as his children. I can go on and on but the important thing is that it is high time we develop more trust in God and go confidently to him to ask him for anything. But also remember that God is a loving father and he cares so much for us; when we ask for something and we don’t receive immediately, don’t ’t despair, he is only protecting your interest, it will come at the right time. What you need to do is ask him to help you pray the right Prayers (Romans 8:26), let him guide you with the help of the holy spirit to teach you all things including how to pray, how to hear from God and many other things. And remember as a child of God, everything is yours (Even that same thing you are believing God for, it is yours), all you need to do, is be totally ready for it.
