GRIEF AND HEALING FROM IT.
Almost everyone has lost someone they loved, knew or looked upto and this is one of the most painful process in Life. Grief is simply the process of healing from a loss. One dies and you are in pain and grief is the process of isolation and personal time to remember the memories of the lost person and let yourself feel the pain while recovering from it. In fact, even Jesus Christ our lord and saviour wept at some point when he lost a dear friend Lazarus, (John11:35,38). The process can take as long as necessary- people grief differently, others blame themselves and wish there was something they can do to change it. Causing panic and stress. Others blame God for it and this changes how they see God in their lives.
Two sides to grief:
1. Others their life took a drastic different turn of events form believing in God to blaming and belittling him.
“the day my father died, I was by his hospital bed and I prayed for him and actually believed that God was going to heal him, only to wake up the following day to the news that he had passed. This broke my heart and so was my faith, I began blaming God, why did he take my father the only remaining surviving parent living me a full orphan. I thought that he didn’t love me and this made me turn my back on God and changed for the worst" Natasha, narrates.
2. The other side of grief is that it makes you realise how stronger you actually are in Christ.
“when I lost my husband I thought my life came to a standstill, I started thinking how I was going to raise and educate my children without my partner and pillar. But after going through the grief and healing fully, I picked up my life and my faith was strengthened, I told myself if God helped me heal from this great loss I can definitely overcome anything that comes my way. God's message to us on grief:
What does the word of God from the father’s mouth say about grief?
1. He wipes our tears Revelations 21:4: He has promised to wipe out our tears and make the pain go away all you have to is let him in.
2. he is aware _Everything worketh for Good to them that love God.(Romans 8:28): Now you wonder how can the passing of my Dad, Mom, Sister, Husband be for my good? Remember God is our father and he knows everything that befalls us before it happens and trusting him is the key to a happy life. He uses different ways to perform his purpose over our lives and yes all things work for our good.
3. He is always with us _ Joshua 1.9: God said he will never leave us nor forsake us. God asks us to be strong and be of good courage because he is always with us. Don't despair because you are not alone.
4. He comforts us_Matthew 5.4:Through his holy spirit he becomes our pillar of strength. When we look up to God when grieving, he carries our burden making it light and easy and helps us to to move on quickly.
5. He provides a scapegoat: Healing_Psalms 34:18, 147:3. It is important to heal from a loss and our great healer and messiah helps us to do this. The devil tries to creep in when we are grieving to try and take us away from God. we need to heal, take it to the lord in prayer and he is faithful to Mend our broken hearts.
Healing becomes a bridge through which we can heal and start on a new page. Do not neglect this crucial part of grief as it is the gateway to you getting back your life on track.
The question you should ask yourself is “Is there anything too hard for God?” The answer is No. so don’t forget to take all your problems to him, HE is a pillar of strength and he never sleeps nor slumbers over his children.
